Oxford Comma

If any of you have been watching the brand new MTV, sporting its new look called 'FNMT' (Which honestly, thank God they've started giving musical videos again) you might have noticed a brand new band featuring their debut album, and a music video which is incredibly odd, called 'Vampire Weekend'.

So it happens that this band released their debut album on this year's Januray and recieving very positive critics. The band itself is an Indie Rock, Baroque Pop, and Indie Pop band composed of the four members: Ezra Koenig (Lead Vocals and guitar), Rostam Batmaglij (Keyboard, Guitar, Vocals), Chris Tomson (Drums), and Chris Baio (Bass Guitar). The band was made on New York and recently, very recently they released their new music video based on their single: Oxford Comma.

Explaining the plot of the music video 'Oxford Comma' is difficult, because atleast for me, has no real coherency. The music video is divided into six chapters and one epilogue in the same musical video. While the music video is really unique, the plot is, like I said, bizzare. The chapters that where thrown in the video where quite unnecesary, because the video doesn't need to be separated into chapters and much less an epilogue which altogether don't make much sense.

However, while the music video might as well as be bizzare, the song is one decent Indie Rock tune and certenly deserves some recognition. Their debut album 'Vampire Weekend', named after their band seems like an awesome buy for this summer. Why? Because although I normally disagree with Rolling Stones magazine (Like I say, sometimes they're filled with shit, sometimes I can actually agree with them) Vampire Weekend's third single 'Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa' was decent enough to be featured in the magazine's #67th best song from 2007. Not only that but Spin Magaine also named Vampire Weekend to be 'This year's best new band'. Which although I have yet to buy the album, seems to be quite promising.

Something that should be noted of the band, is that they've earned some respect as being heavily based around African Pop music. Now that is something out to look out for. Looking for some new original band? Then Vampire Weekend will surely satisfy your Indie Rock needs.
